An Unfortunate Incident

Daniel is usually quite tired when he comes home, but this time, he outdid himself. The poor guy never made it to his bed.

In a flurry of unprecedented action involving the stairs, he found himself down and out. Minutes later, the rest of us arrived at the horrific scene to inspect the situation. It was a complete success! Rather than calling for an ambulance, we decided to share the catastrophe with the rest of the world. Besides that, mom nearly had a heart attack before she realized it was just Joshua...

Robotics update 3

Looks like we aren't out of the game after all! Darn me and my inability to read instructions. We (my team) are in the top 64 ranked teams in Michigan, so we get to go on to the state championship! Of course, being ranked 60, we probably don't have much of a chance, but at least I get to postpone my wait for another year...

PS Contest on deviantart happened to take priority over emote cursors. Cursor status isn't going anywhere at the moment.
PPS Did I mention I was on spring break? Terrible buggers these breaks are. Another week to go with next to nothing to do...

Robotics 2

Friday and Saturday was our second robotics competition. We lost again, but at least we made it past the qualification rounds.

After that, someone on the team tried to fix what wasn't broken and the robot got progressively buggy. I do say, though, it was fun watching the bot work after over 6 weeks of working on it. It wasn't able to do anything at the previous competition...
On a sad note, I have to wait till next year to do it all over again :(

Thoughts of the Days (part 2)

Funny how over half the drafts I type up are discarded and another half of what's left never gets posted.

Needless to say, I was in a good deal of trouble after that...(person 2) took my crackers :(

Robotics

Had a robotics competition at Kettering University this past weekend. Just as a quick explanation of the game, here's the introductory video:

We didn't win the competition *cryface*  We did, however, end up ranked as the 6th best alliance at the meet. We also discovered several dozen bugs that we had to fix as we went along and a few more that we need to fix before the next competition in Ann Arbor on the 25th and 26th. >sigh< This is going to be a long robotics season.

Thoughts of the Days (part 1)

Sometimes, you just wonder if anything you post on these blog things ever get read by anyone besides your dad...

To those wondering why I quit facebook, I didn't need it, I used it too often, and I got in trouble for it.
Moral of story: focus on necessities, keep things in moderation, and stay away from those girls they ain't nothin' but trouble

You know there's a problem when nearly stepping on the corpse of a dead squirrel becomes the highlight of your day.

To non-guys: Please realize that when a guy says "no, thanks" when you offer him food, he literally means "no, thanks." Also realize that "no, I'm fine" means "I'd rather not talk about it" and not "Keep asking. I might change my answer on the eleventh try."
 
reason to follow girls: crowds open up paths for them, allowing for faster transportation.
problem with following girls: girls have a tendency to stop in the middle of crowded hallways to have eight-minute chats during seven-minute passing time between classes
Solution: follow giant basketball and football players
reason to follow large people: they open up paths in crowds rather than waiting for people to move for them and only stop to give 3-second "hey, bro"s to their friends
problem with following large people: you never know when the buff guy suddenly gets a girlfriend

AP World class: robotics club has competition; 30% of class is absent.

My bus driver may drive like my mom, but I have to admit squeezing a school bus between a semi and a small toyota with less than 2 inches of space on either side was pretty impressive. I'll never know if any damage was done, though. She drove too quickly for me to tell.

First child: never allowed to see a sharp edge.  Second child: gets in trouble for touching the kitchen knife when you aren't looking. By the time you get to the last kid, he/she starts juggling knives at the age of 4 (or whenever the kid is strong enough to lift one). Apparently the rule applies to your patience as well.

Mission: Now Possible

     Fifty years ago, there was a television series. Every episode was about an impossible mission given to a team of secret agents with high-tech equipment...well, it was high tech. Some of it might not even have been real...
So, after watching an episode of the Mission: Impossible movie series, I'm going to have to say I was not very impressed with the gadgets. Seriously now, an incandescent flashlight taped to your arm with what looks like masking tape? That thing could probably hold a charge for 2 hours, which is probably why it was so dim in most of the scenes. The listening device embedded in the rose was great, but when it takes a box the size of my microwave to pick up its signal, I've quite honestly lost interest. I could probably make that myself given the time and scavenged materials from old toys. Inside a coffee cup!

New Blog!

   Facebook...*sigh*...such a waste of my time, hence the switch to a blog. I'll probably start off by wasting more time than I have typing up blog posts and managing the blog, but the plan is that eventually, I slow down and the blog dies. Once that happens, I will be left free of this unnecessary addiction and you will be left wondering what the heck I'm up to!
